Annacurra notes week April 10th



The camogie season has kicked off here in Annacurra with our u8-12 on a Tuesday evening at 6:30pm. Our u14 out between Annacurra and Arklow each week training and our Junior girls of a Tuesday and Friday evening @ 8pm. All ages still welcome so feel free to contact us through FB or on the club phone @ 0874654338. We held our first bonus ball lotto in the club this week and our lucky winner was Jenna Hogan with no.22. The lotto will take place each week on a Tuesday evening in the pitch and other evenings in saltee. €2 per number €50 win. A big congratulations to Emma and Aisling on their win with the Wicklow Minor Squad and best of luck in the final.

Last week was a very busy week in our club of sport .

First up was our under 13 team against st Hugh’s they trailed 6.1 to2.2 at the break but showed great heart and determination in the second half but came up short losing 7.2 to 4.8  But a great team effort.

Our new away jerseys arrived and where presented to club captain Vinny O’ Flaherty and vice captain Clive Horan by club chairman Sean Kavanagh

Next out were our under 11 team who took on An Tochar team and won their game but unfortunately team b lost hard luck guys.


Derry Geals had there first outing of the year also away to Rathnew. A good, hard fought and entertaining game ended with the home team scoring the equalizing point with the last kick of the game to finish at 10 points each .Well done to all players on a good team performance .

On Saturday last our under 7 and under 9 teams took on Ballymanus, Aughrim, and Knockananna in there first blitz great fun was had by all well done to aughrim on putting on the blitz

And also on Saturday last our senior men took on Kilmacanogue at home in there second league match of the year and came out on top winning by a scoreline of 1.13 to 11pts .It was a very good team performance we lead from the start and looked in control but they managed to level they tie early in the second half but with a few good team scores we managed to pull away and hold on for the victory well done team and management .

On Friday night last was the last session of our 12 week circuit training programme. In all an excess of 35 people took part with an average weekly turn out 28. Our thanks to David Blake who put us through our paces each week and always managed to bring in fresh ideas to keep the training interesting. This event was organised as part of our HEALTHY CLUB initiative.

Finally there was no jackpot winner in the lotto, numbers 3,4,7,14  match 3 winners where jimmy Cullen Annacurra and Sean Gregan, Coolboy next jackpot 4,450


 Fleadh and KARE

Tinahely CCE will host the Wicklow County Fleadh on Saturday 22nd April in Tinahely N.S. This festival of traditional music and culture is set to attract entries and visitors from all over the county.


Tea, coffee, cakes and sandwiches galore will be served in the ‘Tea Room’ Community Hall, Tinahely from 10a.m. – 3p.m.  All proceeds from refreshments will go to KARE Tinahely Local Service.  Fundraising is a vital source of additional income for KARE.  A special thanks to  our local Tinahely Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann branch for generously offering the proceeds from the refreshments to KARE. 


KARE  provides support to people who have an intellectual disability and their families.  The Tinahely Local Service was established in 2003 and  ensures that individuals with intellectual disabilities, can avail of the service in their own community and as close to their home as possible. The catchment area includes Tinahely, Annacurra, Clonmore, Carnew, Shillelagh, Coolboy, Aughrim, Knockananna and Hacketstown.


There will be plenty of tea and coffee to go round as well as a selection of delicious home-made cakes and sandwiches.   So bring your family, friends and neighbours along to the Fleadh to enjoy the best of traditional music and song.  We look forward to seeing you there!
