Carnew notes week April 17th


The Cancer Coffee morning will be held on Friday 28th April from 10 am to 1 pm in Kinsella Estates Office Main Street Carnew, all welcome.

Fleadh and KARE

Tinahely CCE will host the Wicklow County Fleadh on Saturday 22nd April in Tinahely N.S. This festival of traditional music and culture is set to attract entries and visitors from all over the county.

Tea, coffee, cakes and sandwiches galore will be served in the ‘Tea Room’ Community Hall, Tinahely from 10a.m. – 3p.m.  All proceeds from refreshments will go to KARE Tinahely Local Service.  Fundraising is a vital source of additional income for KARE.  A special thanks to  our local Tinahely Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann branch for generously offering the proceeds from the refreshments to KARE.  

KARE  provides support to people who have an intellectual disability and their families.  The Tinahely Local Service was established in 2003 and  ensures that individuals with intellectual disabilities, can avail of the service in their own community and as close to their home as possible. The catchment area includes Tinahely, Annacurra, Clonmore, Carnew, Shillelagh, Coolboy, Aughrim, Knockananna and Hacketstown.

There will be plenty of tea and coffee to go round as well as a selection of delicious home-made cakes and sandwiches.   So bring your family, friends and neighbours along to the Fleadh to enjoy the best of traditional music and song.  We look forward to seeing you there!


The winner of Scoil Aidan Naofa Carnew Split the Pot was Shelia Doyle winning €303, €50 meat voucher P.j. Hennessy, large egg hamper Orla Mongan, the next draw is 28 th April.


Sunday April 16 is Easter Sunday and no walk is scheduled. On Sunday April 23 the walk will be at Lowbawn/Sugarloaf (Grade B, 14km, 3.5 hours) meeting in Tinahely at 10.00. Please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food & drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear.
