Bealtaine Festival –A month of Celebration of Arts for Older People

We would welcome anyone in the community to come and join us for our annual celebration at  the Brockagh Resource Centre (0404 45600). The line-up is as follow: May 2nd, A morning of music with Joe McKenna. Free admission. May 9th – Bowls in the main hall. Free admission. May  21st , Afternoon Tea Dance with music by The Wicklow Man. Admission €5. Refreshments are provided. ( Groups must be booked into the Tea Dance by calling 0404 45600 or emailing brockaghresourcecentre@gmail.com.) May 29th, Laurence High School Band from Kanvas, USA. The concert starts at 12pm. All are welcome to attend this free event.


Co.Wicklow Older Peoples Network AGM                                                                                         

The Wicklow Age Friendly Strategy 2017 -2022 is being launched at the AGM of the Co. Wicklow Older Person’s Council on May 26th  by Minister Simon Harris. The AGM will be held in the Brockagh Resource Centre, 10am to 3.45. There will be a talk from Brendan Martin, County Librarian and John Gill, Crime Prevention Officer for Wicklow. Go For Life Games – Shake Up Day                                                                                                                                                 

We invite you to the Brockagh Centre, Laragh on Thursday 8th of June for Shake-Up Day from 11am to 2pm with coffee from 10.30 and a light lunch at 1pm. This will be an energetic and sociable occasion resulting in the formation of a team to represent County Wicklow at DCU on Sat 10th June from 10-5pm. Go for Life – A Day of Games

The National Programme for Sport and Physical Activity for older people is hosting a FREE “come and try” day demonstrating the Go for Life Games on Wednesday 3rd May from 12 to 3pm (lunch included) in the Brockagh Centre, Laragh. This invitation is extended to members of active retirement groups/ICA groups /mens sheds/clubs etc., anyone who would like to ‘have a go’ and join in.  All welcome to take part, no previous experience necessary just enthusiasm. Participants taking part in the workshop should wear comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear (e.g. flat soled runners, walking shoes). Active Retirement Outings                                                                                                                       

AR are organising a trip to Wexford Whytes Hotel on Tues 20th to the Thursday 22th of June and there are still places left for anyone interested in a small holiday break. The bus will conveniently pick up from the Brockagh and then direct to Wexford with a stop for lunch on the way. This is a three-day trip, with two nights stay and two dinners with day trips to various places. Return to Brockagh on the Thursday evening. Elevation School of Performing Arts                                                                                                    

Presents it’s 10 Year Anniversary show, Something Old, Something New on Saturday June 3rd at 6pm in Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh. This is a celebration of everything dance and drama from all of our students across all the campuses. We invite everyone young and young at heart to come along, students and supporters past and present to come along and join in the celebrations with us.

Take place on the first Sunday of the month except for January. Always great new and nearly new clothes and accessories, home baking, plants and much more. Vans must be booked in. Car park spaces for the next month or so will be limited so please pre-book indoor spaces early. Laragh Glendalough Community Garden                                                                                               

The garden is now ready for planting and we welcome the community into the garden. Plots are available for those wishing to grow their own vegetables. The polytunnel can be used for growing tomatoes etc. and if you have a small garden but want to grow potatoes or larger vegetables such as marrow we have the space. Call Finian on 086 247 6822.

Join us for a magical afternoon of Broadway & Disney Hits with stunning performances from truly talented Starz aged 3 – 17 years. Pilates at the Brockagh                                                                                                                         

Marie Noonan is a qualified Pilate’s teacher and has been teaching for the last 17 years and works full time as a movement therapist for rehabilitation, health and longevity. High Intensity Fitness Dance (H.I.F.D)                                                                                                    

 Just pop in on Wednesday evenings at 7pm in the Brockagh Centre to dance your socks off with Adam and the class in cardio exercise dancing, dropping those extra calories. Citizen’s Information Clinic                                                                                                                     

The Citizens Information Centre at the Brockagh Resource Centre is open for information relating to your rights and entitlements from 10 am until noon on the first and third Tuesday of each month. No appointment is necessary for this free and confidential service.


Regular Walking Group in the Brockagh                                                                                                              

On Monday mornings weekly at 10am join the walking group with Get Ireland Walking at the Brockagh Resource Centre for a walk around Glendalough area for approximately one hour. In association with Get Ireland Walking, Wicklow Local Sports Partnership & Brockagh Resource Centre. All ages and abilities are welcome. Evening Yoga with Viva

Blessing of the graves will take place in Glendalough Graveyard, Glendalough on Saturday May 13th at 8pm. In the event of inclement weather prayers in St Kevins Church, Brockagh, Laragh immediately after 7.00pm Mass.

Traditional Basket-making Workshop

This full-day, traditional basket-making workshop will teach you basic basketry techniques. Taught in a relaxed learning environment, you will bring home your own completed small round willow basket (a skib).
