Arklow fire service were called to a field fire between Churchview and Avalon estates this afternoon.
A spokesperson for the fire service told Wicklownews “Because of the dry spell and high winds, scrub and gorse can burn quickly, we have been lucky in Co.Wicklow that we have not had the likes of what they had in Cork and Kerry.”
It is understood the fire was started deliberately.
The public are being reminded to be extra careful when disposing of Bar-b-ques and cigarettes during the dry spell.
