Armed Gardaí carried out a number of checkpoints on the Wicklow Gap over the weekend in a bid to prevent people from breaking into cars at scenic areas along the route.
The operations were carried out following a spike in thefts from cars along the route over the last few years.
Members of Wicklow Gardaí were joined by armed members from the Garda Regional Support Unit during the checkpoints.
With the warm weather set to continue Gardaí are advising motorists to exercise caution and not leave valuable items in plain sight.
Owners of MPV’s are also asked to make sure valuable items are locked away before the leave their vehicles to go on hikes.
Operation Thor prevented a number of thefts from taking place last summer.
