Mass of the Angels

The vigil mass at 8.00 pm on Saturday 10th June in Church of the Sacred Heart, Aughrim is a “Mass of the Angels”.  The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for all the families in the locality who have lost a baby due to miscarriage, a baby around the time of birth or a child who died young.  Choir will be by Avondale Voices.  All welcome.

Run the Rock
‘Run The Rock 11K Challenge’(5th year) takes place on sat 3rd June @11.00am and is now open for registration on .  This fundraising event is organised by Aughrim GAA Club committee and has become a very popular local event.  This trail run starts and finishes at the Brooklodge Hotel and is open to both runners and walkers.  The first 3K is a formidable climb to the top of Cushbawn Mountain. From here on its downhill to lap the Sean Linehan Walk and then back up to the Brooklodge  Hotel  finish line for well earned refreshments.  There is also a shorter 3.5K loop to cater for family’s and kids .Avondale Sports & Leisure(Bill Porter) have kindly sponsored trophies for first boy and girl in each age group and also a novelty prize for first parent and child in the 3.5K fun run.
Entry: Individual €20 online, Team of four €60 online, Individual On the day €25.   Family 3.5k €10

Tai Chi & Qi Gong Classes

Tai Chi & Qi Gong classes every Friday morning 10 – 11 am at Aughrim Sports Complex. Learn gentle flowing healing movements that can relieve stress, improve flexibility and mobility. Summer Camp

Come join our Two Exciting Summer Camps not to be missed.  Venue: Aughrim Community Hall. Date: 10th-14 July, Age group: 4-12, Time: 9.30-12 (Art Camp) 12-1 (Activity Camp).  Art in the morning ( Candles with Photo/Sculpture/ T-Shirts Design/ Art & Science Projects & lots more, with art competition on the last day).  Activity camp in the afternoon (Introduction to Tae-Kwon-Do, circuit training, exercise to music & lots more).  Presentation of medals & certs on the last day.  Join us for the Art Camp or Activity camp only or both.  Over 16yrs experience delivering Art Camps to the community & over 20 years Tae-Kwon-Do experience.  For Booking Contact: Trish Murphy (087)6390370 for further information.

Bowling Facility

Aughrim Bowling Facility is now open to all players, groups and anyone interested in taking up the game.  Tuition can be given to the inexperienced.  Please call in to the bowling green on Rednagh Road on Tuesday or Thursday evenings for more information.

Busy Fingers Pre-school & Toddler Group

We are now taking enrolments for September, catering for children from 2-6 years of age.  Free places are available under the ECCE scheme.  For enrolments or any further information please ring 0402 36407 or 087 394 9867.

Active Retirement

Our Dawn Chorus will take place on Sunday May 28th at 8 a.m. beside the Pavilion followed by a light breakfast afterwards. We would love to see a full turn out of our members and friends, as this is always a very enjoyable occasion. You don’t need to be a good singer to enjoy listening and joining in the chorus. The Thrift Shop will be open. All are welcome.  The next Committee Meeting will be held on Thursday June 1st at 10.30 am in Lawless’ Hotel.  Our next club meeting will take place on Tuesday June 6th at 10.30 am. in the Sports Complex.
Community Games

Athletics training continues every Monday. It’s only three weeks till Shillelagh so keep practicing
The Art and handwriting competition takes place next Sunday May 28th in Dunlavin national school. Check in for art is 1.45 for 2pm start and 2.45 for 3pm start for handwriting. Good luck to all the children taking part.  We also wish the children of Annacurra National School a great day for their Confirmation.

Join us at the Pavilion, Rednagh Road, every Saturday from 10am – 2pm. Cafe serving breakfast, light lunches, teas, coffees and sweet goodies.  Fresh local produce including farm fresh meat and vegetables, delicious chutneys and relishes, jams and marmalades, freshly baked breads and cakes, farm fresh eggs and a tasty array of freshly cooked frittatas.  Crafts, Aran knits and jewellery also available. The numbers: 7, 9, 14 and 20 were drawn in the Sports club lotto on Monday May 15th.  Match three winners were: Oisin Dunne, John Connolly and Andy Alexander. The jackpot was not won. The jackpot is €8250.
