Avoca ICA

Avoca ICA and friends wish to thank all those who so generously donated to their recent fundraiser in aid of the Haiti Earthquake victims. Your support is very much appreciated.  To date we have raised €4200. Fundraising is ongoing for this worthy cause. We will have another car boot sale on Saturday 3rd June. If you are finishing your spring cleaning and wonder what to do with your cast offs we would be delighted to have them for the car boot sale.

 

Newbridge Graveyard Avoca

The Annual Blessing of the Graves in Newbridge Graveyard in Avoca village will take place on Saturday the 20th of May at 2.30pm. Newbridge Graveyard is one of the oldest graveyards in the area. All are welcome. There will be refreshments in the Community Hall afterwards.

 

Castlemacadam Parish Sale

The annual parish fundraising sale and raffle will take place on Saturday 20th may 2017 at 2pm in the Hartin Hall. There will be good value in household goods, freshly baked bread and cakes, and other useful items. Afternoon tea will also be served.

 

Bingo Fundraiser

Avoca National School held a fundraising Bingo in Avoca Community Hall on Sunday, April 2nd. The sum of 3,200 euros was raised. This will go toward creating an all-weather playing space for the children. The Board of Management would like to thank the Hall Committee and the Bingo Team for their help in organising this event. Many thanks to the local businesses and parents that sponsored this event and to the people who came to play Bingo on the day

 

Avoca Post Office

The community group Team Avoca have been highlighting to fellow community groups to support Avoca Post Office. This comes in the context of the media coverage over proposed closures of Post Offices in rural towns. There is a petition book in Avoca Post Office that people are asked to sign and there are petition sheets being given out to the different community groups in the area.

 

Our current Post Mistress of Avoca Post Office, Mary Bolger, provides a wide range of services which include the payments of Pensions, Children Allowance and Job-Seekers, Bill payments including Property Tax, ESB, Phone, Oxendales and Littlewoods, Banking (A.I.B Lodgements and Withdrawals) and Ulster Bank, 1 for all Gift Vouchers, Lotto and Scratch Cards. Our Post Mistress Mary Bolger is currently visiting community groups to highlight the services that Avoca Post Office provides. Our motto is: ‘If you don’t use it, you lose it’.

East Coast Radio Coffee morning

Thank you to everyone who supported the fundraising coffee and tea morning at the Avoca recycling centre on Saturday 29th of April. A total of €630 was raised and this will help the Rathdrum Cancer Support Group and the Wicklow Hospice Foundation with their great work. Thank you for your continued support from all at Avoca Recycling.
