Death

The death took place in London recently of Jimmy Bagnall, late of Gilbinstown, Dunlavin. Jimmy’s burial took place in Gormanstown Graveyard last week. May Jimmy rest in peace.

 

Camogie Draw

The results of the first monthly draw in the 12 month draw for Donard/Glen Camogie club 1st €200  Kelly O’ Neill, 2nd €75 Fergal Kelly, 3rd €50 Bridget Downes,  €20 each to Fergal Kelly, Lucy Mooney and John O’ Neill. Thanks to all who supported the draw. Next draw June 22nd.

 

Jonathan Swift National School are celebrating 125 years on Sunday June 11th in St. Nicholas Church, Dunlavin at 3pm. This will e followed by refreshments. All are welcome.

 

Mid Summer Melodies

Mid-Summer melodies takes place in La Touche Cottage , Brannockstown on Saturday June 17th 2-5pm. This is a fundraiser for World Vision. For information contact 045 483800 or 0867281811.

 

Swift In Dunlavin

Dunlavin Arts Festival presents Swift in Dunlavin, an evening of poetry, prose and song to celebrate the life and works of Jonathan Swift. 2017 marks the 350th anniversary of Swift’s birth and in 2016 St Nicholas Church, of which Swift was once Prebendary, enjoyed 200 years since the current church was built. Join us as local and professional talent come together to entertain you with highlights from Swift’s writings and music from the period.

Culture Bus

The culture bus will travel to Bloom in the Phoenix Park on Saturday June 3rd 2017. Departing Dunlavin at 9am. Telephone 0879693960 if you wish to travel.

 

Tidy Towns Fundraiser

Dunlavin Tidy Towns are asking for your support in their annual non-stop draw. This is their only fundraiser every year and proceeds are used to buy plants, flowers, trees, bulbs, fertilizers, fuel for mowers as well as maintenance and tools. Residents are encouraged to be litter conscious and be aware of the legal requirement to clean up dog mess if walking their pets.

 

Golf Classic

The annual GAA golf Classic will take place in Rathsallagh Golf Club on Saturday June 10th. To compete contact Ed 0872407749, Johnny 0878439611 or Dinny 087211521. Team of 4 160 which includes food .

Set Dance

The annual Maureen Dennis memorial set dance ceili will take place on June 16th in the Imaal Hall, music by Syl and Liz, proceeds to St Brigids Hospice on the Curragh. Dancing 9.30 to 12.30. Subscription € 10 includes supper.

 

The Imaal Hall’s AGM – will take place on Friday, May 26th at 8pm. All are welcome.

 

Track & Field Athletics – Training will now begin in Donard GAA on Tuesdays at 3:15 for all children who want to train. We also need boys for U12 relay, and girls & boys for U14 and U16 relay teams. The Arts Festival – next meeting will take place in Rathsallagh Golf Club on Saturday May 20th at 2pm. All welcome to attend.

 

Mass Rock, HollywoodSunday 28th May 2017 The pilgrimage to the Mass Rock in Corragh, will leave Hollywood Car park at 7.00a.m. arriving at 8.30a.m. approx. for Mass.  In the event of very bad weather Mass will be celebrated in St. Kevin’s Church, Hollywood at 7.30 a.m. All welcome to celebrate a great Christian penal time tradition.

 

St Kevin’s Community College – is currently enrolling students for its QQI Level 5 courses beginning mid-September 2017.  The college is offering Office Administration (Business) and Medical Administration. Both courses are full-time, however, it may also be taken on a part-time basis and the College will facilitate those applying who may wish to complete the course over a two-year period.  Students of all levels are welcome. Car Boot Sale

will be held in the Imaal Hall on Sunday,4th June from 9:30am to 2:00pm (Table must be set up by 9am). A table will be supplied at a cost of €15, to book your table please contact 045-403319 or 087-6293923. All proceeds will go towards the maintenance of the hall.

 

Dunlavin Community Playschool

 Enrolment places for September are filling up fast so if you know of anybody with a child due to start playschool in September 2017, January or April 2018 can you ask them to contact the playschool on 045-406866 or call in to complete an enrolment form so they can be added to the list.

Line Dancing – continues in the Imaal Hal on Wednesdays from 8pm-10pm at a cost of only €6. New beginners are welcome, so come along learn a new skill and join the craic! 

 

Use Your Local Library

Join your local library and avail of the many free services there. E-Books and E Audio books are available, you can read Digital Magazines and the  newspapers for free. Great selection of children’s books. Opening times in Dunlavin Tuesday 6.30-8.30pm., Wednesday 3-5pm and 6.30-8.30pm, Friday 10.30-1pm and 3pm-5pm, and Saturday 11am-1pm. Closed on Saturdays of Bank Holiday weekends.

 

Clinic

John Brady TD will hold a clinic in Dunlavin parish centre on the 2nd Monday of each month from 11.30am to 12.30pm. All welcome to drop in.

 

Yarn Bombing.

 Dressing trees up in yarn, knitted, crocheted or pompoms. Not a fundraising event. A COMMUNITY event. So as many people as possible. The aim of this community project is to decorate the town for  the week of the Arts Festival. Google ICA yarn bombing Newbridge. If  people  are interested there will be a community knitting session in Meitheal on Wednesday mornings from 10am to 12 noon and also on Thursdays 3pm to 5pm. All welcome.

 

Farmers Market

Following the great success of the  Farmers Market in Dunlavin the next   one will take place on Saturday June 3rd 10am to 2pm outside Meitheal Coffee Shop.  No trading allowed, only own grown, own made items. Get sowing and growing, baking and making if you would like to be part of this event.

 

Church Shop – We now have a lovely selection of items in stock including Confirmation and Communion cards, rosettes, rosary beads, necklaces and pins. All items are available from the Church and the parish office at very competitive prices..

 

Used Postage Stamps 

Please keep your used postage stamps for St. Patrick’s Missions, Kiltegan who can use them to fundraise. Used stamps can be dropped into the parish office any time. Thank you to all who have donated stamps throughout the past year.
