Conall Byrne & Rob Coyne from Hollywood, Co. Wicklow have raised a fantastic €6,784 for the Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation.
Conall and Rob carried out the fundraiser between September 2016 and May 2017 as part of their community work experience for Transition Year in St. Kevin’s Community College. They completed many fundraising challenges – a 5KM Santa Run in Hollywood Forest, a Christmas Candy Cane sale in their school, a coffee morning in Hollywood, and two bag packs in Dunnes Stores Newbridge and Blessington. The fundraiser culminated in a 117km walk of a section of the Camino in north-west Spain (Sarria to Santiago de Compostela) – Rob & Conall’s Camino. They completed this over five days, going through many varying landscapes, staying in local hostels and sampling the traditional food of the Galicia region before finishing in Catedral de Santiago in the beautiful city of Santiago de Compostela.
Yesterday, at the Jack & Jill headquarters in Johnstown, Co. Kildare they presented the CEO, Hugo Jellett, with a cheque for €6,784. The charity provides home nursing care to brain damaged children up to the age of 4 and end of life care to palliative babies up to the age of 4. The money raised by Conall and Rob will fund 424 hours of home respite care for families of sick children.
Conall and Rob were delighted to work with this wonderful and worthwhile charity and with the incredibly supportive and hard-working team of Jonathan, Hugo, Edelle and Denise. They would also like to thank everyone who helped with this fundraiser in any way. They especially would like to thank their parents, the people and organisations who donated so generously, the Hollywood community and all their friends who helped out on the various fundraisers
