Thank you for taking the time to read this. In the meantime, if you have any questions or can help in any way, please feel free to contact either myself of fundraising@wicklowhospice.ie or phone Sinead on 0402-91310.
As you know, many of us have experienced the physical and emotional effects attached to a loved one suffering from a terminal illness and the devastating impact it has on the person and their family and friends. The building of the Wicklow Hospice will provide the necessary physical, emotional, spiritual and practical support focusing on both their needs and those of their family.
Wicklow Hospice will not be built without the support of people in our community. With this in mind, I am inviting you to walk with us on a route from Glendalough to Glenmalure on Sunday, July 16, starting at 9am. Not only will you enjoy the fabulous scenery on the walk, but it will be a powerful contribution to the community by helping to provide a facility to support people with cancer, their families and friends.
What we have achieved so far:
Hundreds of small community fundraising events
Beautiful site for the Hospice overlooking the sea in Magheramore, donated by the Columban Sisters
Official turning of the sod in Magheramore is expected to take place this year, after the Minister for Health pledged €1 million towards its development
Commitment of HSE funding (approx. €3 million per year)
€4.5 million raised to date towards construction cost of approx. €7.5 million
Part shortfall to be funded by bank loan (application made) with
remaining gap in funding to be filled while building is taking place
Hospice now expected to be completed by 2019
Huge profile – Proceeds of the 2013 European premiere of Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln starring Sir Daniel Day-Lewis were donated to the Wicklow Hospice Foundation
Thank you for helping to make Wicklow Hospice a reality.
Many thanks and warm regards
