Arklow accident victim named

The man who died in an accident in Arklow during the early hours of Monday morning has been named as 49 year-old Declan Kelly from Ballyduff, Arklow.

Gardai are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, which took place on the Coolgraney road adjacent to St Saviour’s church.

CCTV from the area is being reviewed and Gardai are speaking to a man who presented himself to the Garda shortly after the accident.

An extensive search was carried out on the Johnstown road on Monday, Gardai concluded the search around 5pm after “significant” items were found by the investigation team.

A post-mortem examination carried out on Mr Kelly’s body proved inconclusive and further examinations are due to take place today.
