Marigold Festival (Celebrating Healthy & Active Aging)
There was a great turn out for this year’s Active Retirement Ireland (ARI) Eastern Region South Marigold Festival in the Brockagh Centre, Laragh for the first time. Coaches full of festival goers laughed, danced, ate, were entertained by host Finbar Coady, the Rams(Rathfarmham), Jimmy Coogan(singer), and the Bright Side Of Life(Clondalkin). The fun didn’t stop there! Pickleball & Kubb Demos, Boules, Zumba Dancing, fish and chips, ice cream in the luncheon area outside. Talks on the main stage with holiday reps, stallholders selling clothes, bags, jams, jewellery, etc., along with Homestead Care set up in and around the building selling items and answering any questions about care in the home. Thank you to all who organized and participated in this wonderful event.

“Let’s Talk about Community Development”
As part of our Let’s Talk about information and community engagement series, Co. Wicklow PPN is inviting community groups to find out about community development structures, plans and processes that can impact on their areas and way of life. Tai Chi and QiGong Starting 11th of July
The end of this term is June 20th with a new block of classes starting on the 11th of July. Tai Chi and QiGong classes are very powerful tools which help to heal physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Traditional Basket-making Workshop
This full day, traditional basket-making workshop will teach you basic basketry techniques. Taught in a relaxed learning environment, you will bring home your own completed small round willow basket (a skib). The workshops will take place in the Brockagh Centre from 9-5 pm on June 24th, July 16th and August 8th, 2017. Classes are small with 5 participants. Garden workshop also available on request. McGrath-Flood School of Irish Dancing Coming to Brockagh Centre/Laragh
Irish Dancing to start on Saturday 16th Sept from 9am-10am. Classes cater for any age over 3yrs and all levels including absolute beginners. Tae kwon-Do for Youths and Adults
Teens and adults will enjoy Taekwon-Do, a Korean art of self-defence. New Summer Time for The Wicklow Man
Wicklow Man(David Bury 087 272 3962) is on every Tuesday night in the Brockagh Centre at the new time of 9 p.m. for a few hours of dancing and socialising.There will be no dance on the 27th of June, 2017.
Community Archaeology Opportunities at Glendalough
Tues 8th – Fri 18th August: Volunteers are welcome to participate in the excavation. Sat 12th Aug: Excavation for 13-17 yr olds (if accompanied by adults: tbc). Sat 19th Aug: “Big Dig” for children 12 yrs, Open Day at exacavation. Sat 26th: ‘Food and Resources in the Past’: Open Day at excavations with family activities exploring use of natural resources in the past. Mon 21st – Fri 25th August: Daily tours of the excavations; Graveyard Survey and Graveyard Tours; Art and Atmosphere exhibition. No experience required but for some events registration is.
