Let’s Talk About Community Development – County Wicklow Public Participation Network

County Wicklow Public Participation Network (PPN) provides a voice for all community groups in the County. One of the functions of the PPN is to identify the issues that matter to communities and to bring these issues and ideas to local decision making tables.  The PPN provides a means for two-way communication between the community and various county boards and committees.

As part of their Let’s Talk About information and community engagement series, Co Wicklow PPN is inviting community groups to find out about community development structures, plans and processes that can impact on their areas and way of life.

In particular we will look at the Local Community Development Committee which exists to co-ordinate, in a general way the local and community development activities within the county.  Amongst its responsibilities are:

  • The preparation, implementation and monitoring of the Local Economic and Community Plan for the county. This plan promotes a coordinated and collaborative approach to community development planning and service delivery in Co Wicklow
  • Coordinating, planning and overseeing local and community development funding, including the LEADER Rural Development Programme, The Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme and any other funding streams that are available.

On Monday 26th June at 7pm in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh Co Wicklow PPN will host an information session on the Local Community Development Committee and its work and explore how communities can engage with it.

We want to hear your thoughts and in so doing ensure that the PPN continues to be an effective and accessible voice for community groups throughout County Wicklow.
