A 32-year-old man is being held at Bray garda station in connection with the body parts find in the Wicklow mountains.
The man believed to be from South Dublin was arrested in County Wexford yesterday evening, the man is being detained under section 4 of the criminal justice act which means he can be questioned for up to 24 hours.
Gardai believe the man and the victim are related and the woman was killed over a dispute.
Body parts were found at 8 locations over a three day period.
Yesterday the head and hands of the victim were found in a plastic bag 3km north of Glenmacnass waterfall on the Military road.
A house was sealed off in Nutgrove, South Dublin on Tuesday night as part of the garda investigation into the death of a woman.
Gardaí are examining the scene to establish if it is connected to the murder.
