Man charged with Wicklow murder claims it was ‘self defence’

A 32-year-old man has appeared in court this afternoon charged with the murder of Patricia O’Connor.

Kieran Green with an address in Mountain View Park in Churchtown, Dublin appeared before a brief hearing at Tallaght District court just after lunchtime.

Gardai gave evidence that Mr Green claimed he had killed the woman, who was in her 60’s, in ‘self-defence’ when he was charged at Bray Garda station this morning.

Judge Patricia McNamara remanded Mr Green in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court next Thursday.

Mr Green must apply to the High Court for bail on a murder charge.

Ms O’Connors’ remains were found at various locations in the Wicklow Mountains over the past week. Remains were also found at a location in Kilmuckridge.

She had been missing since June 2nd.
