A Civic Reception was held by the members of Arklow Municipal District on Monday last (July 10th) to honour Niamh Walsh, the successful actress who is originally from Arklow Town.
The reception, which took place in the offices of Arklow Municipal District, was held to acknowledge and congratulate Niamh on her recent roles as “Cara Martinez” the in BBC One medical drama “Holby City”.
Niamh has also appeared in “Casualty” and “Jekyll & Hyde”. She also stars in the Sky 1 period drama “Jamestown” as Verity Rutter née Bridges. The reception was also attended by Niamh’s parents, grandmother, aunts and uncles.
Cllr Tommy Annesley, Cathaoirleach of Arklow Municipal District, welcomed Niamh and her family and said it was great to see such talent hail from Arklow. He recognised her dedication and commitment to each of the roles she has played to date.
The Cathaoirleach and Members presented Niamh with a picture of the Nineteen Arches Bridge sketched on glass by a local artist and she also signed the Arklow Municipal District Visitors Book. Niamh is due to start filming the second series of “Jamestown” in the coming days.
The event was also attended by Chairman of the Avonmore Musical Society Robert Donnelly and Mr. Colm Moules President of the Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) .
