Dunlavin notes week July 24th


Church Mountain Walk – in aid of Sophia Counselling Centre: 086 1225198 will take place on Sunday 30th July. Leaving from Donard Church ground Sat 12 noon. A Picnic, Prayer and mass. All are welcome!

Dunlavins Farmers Market – following the great success of the Market, the next one will take place on Saturday August 5th, 10am to 2pm outside Meitheal Coffee Shop.  No trading allowed, only own grown, own made items. Get sowing and growing, baking and making if you would like to be part of this event.


West Wicklow Cancer Support – drop-in meeting is on Thursday, 27th July at 7.30pm in the Coimin Centre, Blessington. A safe place to meet, talk and be supported during a cancer journey. All are welcome, feel free to bring a friend.


Dunlavin Juvenile Soccer Club – will hold a Church gate collection before both Masses next Sunday, July 30th. You support would be appreciated.



Dunlavin /Donard meals on wheels wish to thank Donoughmore/Donard Amateur Drama Group for their generous donation of €1,000 part proceeds from their recent production of “Cupid wore Skirts”. It is very much appreciated.



The death has occurred of Bernard Deering, late of Milltown, Dunlavin.

Bernard passed away in the tender care of Denise and the wonderful staff at Coral Haven, Nursing Home, Galway. Beloved youngest son of the late Mark and Rosaleen, Dunlavin, Co. Wicklow. For many years in the loving community of the brothers of charity. Deeply regretted by his sisters Maureen Cash and Rena Harford, his brother Barry and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Brother of the late John, Paschal, George, Paddy, Gemma O’Loughlin, Marcus and Clare Walsh. Bernard will be greatly missed by all his nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, extended family, neighbours and his many dear friends in Galway.

Bernard’s funeral Mass took place at 12 noon Thursday, July 20th, in St Nicholas of Myra Church, Dunlavin. Burial afterwards in Hollywood Cemetery. (Church of St Kevin). May Bernard rest in peace.


Donoughmore Fete and Sports Day

The annual Donoughmore Fete takes place on Bank Holiday Monday August 7th 2017. This promises to be a great family day out. The fun starts at 1pm. Adults €3 Children Free.



Sympathy is extended to the Foley family on the sudden death of  Paddy. on 19th July 2017. Paddy is mourned by his wife  Bridget and family  Aidain,Pat,Ailus,Dereck,Tom,Colm,Kevin,Declan,David,Brian.Sharon,Aidrene,Aileen. Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews. Paddy’s funeral Mass took place in St Nicholas of Myra Church Dunlavin on July 21st and burial took place in the local cemetery. May Paddy Rest in peace

The death has occurred of Joseph (Joe) Roche, in his 99th year, formerly of Main Street, Dunlavin in the loving and devoted care of the staff at Knockeen Nursing Home, Wexford – beloved husband of the late Shiela and dearest father of Oliver and the late Audrey. Deeply regretted by Oliver & his partner Mary, his grandchildren Natasha, Naomi, Niall & Simon, his great-grandchildren, his nieces and nephews and all his family and friends. Funeral Mass took place on Monday 17th July in St. Nicholas of Myra Church, Dunlavin, burial afterwards in local cemetery. May Joe rest in peace


Benefit Night

An 80’s V 90’s Benefit Night – in aid of our good friend Elaine O’Reilly will take place in the Imaal Hall, Dunlavin on (Bank Holiday) Sunday, August 5th. Doors open at 10:30pm, and close at 11:00pm. DJ Fergie will play 11:00pm-1:30am. This event is ticket only, strictly over 18’s, fancy dress is optional. Tickets cost €10 and are on sale from the Parish Office. Please come along to support and enjoy the night!

Line Dancing

Line Dancing – continues in the Imaal Hal on Wednesdays from 8pm-10pm at a cost of only €6. New beginners are welcome, so come along learn a new skill and join the craic!

Join your local library and avail of the many free services there. E-Books and E Audio books are available, you can read Digital Magazines and the  newspapers for free. Great selection of children’s books. Opening times in Dunlavin Tuesday 6.30-8.30pm., Wednesday 3-5pm and 6.30-8.30pm, Friday 10.30-1pm and 3pm-5pm, and Saturday 11am-1pm. Closed on Saturdays of Bank Holiday weekends.



John Brady TD will hold a clinic in Dunlavin parish centre on the 2nd Monday of each month from 11.30am to 12.30pm. All welcome to drop in.


Church Shop – We now have a lovely selection of items in stock including Confirmation and Communion cards, rosettes, rosary beads, necklaces and pins. All items are available from the Church and the parish office at very competitive prices..


Used Postage Stamps 

Please keep your used postage stamps for St. Patrick’s Missions, Kiltegan who can use them to fundraise. Used stamps can be dropped into the parish office any time. Thank you to all who have donated stamps throughout the past year.
