We’re back! After a thoroughly successful Arklow screening in April a dynamic and passionate group was formed to bring you more Embrace inspired events and screenings.
That’s how good this movie is – you’ll want to start taking action and spread the word! Did you know that millions of women around the world hate their body? It’s led to a global epidemic of body loathing that’s left a generation of women feeling inadequate, undervalued and alone.
Rates of body-image related mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and eating disorders are on the rise, as are the rates of cosmetic surgery in young adults. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
We are the Body Image Movement, an internationally recognised crusade fronted by our founder Taryn Brumfitt, who posted an unconventional before-and-after photo in 2013, which was seen more than 100 million times and sparked an international media frenzy. This video gives a brief outline of our story since then:
Taryn’s feature documentary Embrace looks at why so many women hate their body and what we can do about it. It’s come to Ireland through Demand Films and we have a screening in Wicklow at Omniplex Arklow on August 23rd, 2017 at 6:30pm.
We would love for you to get behind this screening and help us promote the important message of positive body image for everybody – and of course, to come see the film yourselves!
Advance ticket sales are essential to ensure our screening is confirmed.
This is being hosted by Alison Murphy (a Body Image Movement Global Ambassador) with her friend Maureen Griffin, supported by the group which has formed from the screening in April, Fabulously Flawsome.
Alison believes this film has the power to change lives. “It’s changed my life completely. For me, it hasn’t just been a body image thing although that’s where it began. I’ve changed my attitude to myself and learned to accept and love myself just the way I am right now unconditionally.
Embrace was the catalyst for that.” Maureen says, “I can’t tell you how important this movie is especially for the young people in our lives who feel the pressure to conform to perfection even more acutely than I did. It is a magical film.
It will kick-start your journey to self-love and acceptance with a big dollop of appreciation for how truly amazing your beautiful body is.”
