NEW PARKING BYE LAWS WILL BEGIN MONDAY,  28 AUGUST 2017

DETAILS WILL FOLLOW IN SUBSEQUENT GREYSTONES CALENDAR

 

 

GREYSTONES LIBRARY SUMMER READING CHALLENGE FOR CHILDREN !!

The Challenge is a national initiative and is completely free of charge.

But children need to be members of the library in order to take books out.

 

Challenge is open now and children receive a reading card when they join.

They use the card to keep track of their progress.

The Challenge is to read eight books this summer !!

 

A range of prizes is available for different milestones along the way:

Bookmarks to bags to pencils to wristbands.

At the end of the Challenge,  children receive a Certificate with their name on it.

 

Children and families also have access to fun reading activities:

Summer Stars Website;  www.summerstars.ie.

Site has lots of online activities as well as a range of animated books.

Lots of tips and advice,  discussion boards and interviews with well known people.

 

Challenge is a fantastic way of encouraging children to keep reading during the Summer.

Children can join the Challenge at anytime.

Daniel Jeanrenaud,  alias The Camden Cat,  is coming our way !!

Come join his short Irish tour,  augmented by great Irish musicians.

Daniel has played with Jerry Lee Lewis,  Johnny Cash,  Carl Perkins,  Bo Diddley and more.

 

He was the man behind a 12 year residency at the Marathon in Camden Town.

Attracting Paul Weller,  Jarvis Cocker,  Liam & Noel Gallagher and Amy Winehouse.

This meeting is for men who have or who have had cancer and for those men who have family or friends who have had cancer. 

 

This is the last meeting before the summer break.

Irish German Society of County Wicklow Annual Bus Tour

Bus will leave Greystones Railway Station at 9:00 a.m.

Stopping at Killruddery Gates at 9:15 a.m.

 

Tour will visit Birr Castle and Gardens.

BBQ Lunch at Giltraps Pub Kinnitty and visit new Glamping Site at Kinnity.

Guided Tour by Margaret Hogan,  local historian of Birr Town.

 

Cost is €35 for Members;  €45 for Non Members.

Guest Speaker will be HE Michael Collins,  Irish Ambassador to Federal Republic Germany.

Michael has had a very distinguished career.

Including a very important role as Ambassador to the United States.

During the on-going talks concerning a settlement in Northern Ireland.
