IRISH GERMAN SOCIETY OF CO. WICKLOW VISITS WÜRZBURG

The Irish German Society of Co. Wicklow had an excellent visit with twinning partners.

The group travelled to Würzburg in Germany for the city’s Annual Kiliani Fest.

There is a long and historic connection between the two areas.

The Wicklow group was also present for Archbishop Diarmuid Martin’s Kiliani Lecture.

GREYSTONES LIBRARY SUMMER READING CHALLENGE FOR CHILDREN !!

The Challenge is a national initiative and is completely free of charge.

But children need to be members of the library in order to take books out.

 

Challenge is open now and children receive a reading card when they join.

They use the card to keep track of their progress.

The Challenge is to read eight books this summer !!

 

A range of prizes is available for different milestones along the way:

Bookmarks to bags to pencils to wristbands.

At the end of the Challenge,  children receive a Certificate with their name on it.

 

Children and families also have access to fun reading activities:

Summer Stars Website;  www.summerstars.ie.

Site has lots of online activities as well as a range of animated books.

Lots of tips and advice,  discussion boards and interviews with well known people.

 

Challenge is a fantastic way of encouraging children to keep reading during the Summer.

Children can join the Challenge at anytime.

Bus will leave Greystones Railway Station at 9:00 a.m.

Stopping at Killruddery Gates at 9:15 a.m.

 

Tour will visit Birr Castle and Gardens.

BBQ Lunch at Giltraps Pub Kinnitty and visit new Glamping Site at Kinnity.

Guided Tour by Margaret Hogan,  local historian of Birr Town.
