Man to be sentenced for attack on elderly couple

A Dublin man is facing what’s expected to be a long term in prison when he is sentenced today,  for a vicious assault carried out on a elderly couple at their home near Ashford almost over two years ago.

In March of 2013 two men forced their way into the Crean family home in Kiloughter and beat the elderly couple with a hurley before leaving with cash and a diamond ring.

The men were caught after a high speed chase in Tallaght.

He will appear at Bray Central Criminal Court this morning.

Yesterday a man received a 10-year sentence for the attack on Bray pensioner Eva Sutton.
