Pilot scheme launched with Greystones Municipal District.

Ideal for people who only need occasional access to a car.

 

Book online or via app,  unlock with GoCard or phone.

Keys are in the car with fuel,  insurance and city parking included.

NEW PARKING BYE LAWS WILL BEGIN MONDAY,  28 AUGUST 2017.

There will be a new start time each morning for charging period.

Charging period will now be Monday to Saturday,  10 am to 6 pm.

There will be a grace period of 15 minutes.

Grace period is on commencement of parking in all areas.

Grace period will allow time to purchase parking tickets.

And accommodate quick stops at local shops and school drop offs.

Trace period begins when wardens first observe legally parked car.

 

IMPORTANT !!  THERE IS NO GRACE PERIOD WHEN TICKET TIME EXPIRES !!

OR WHEN PREPAID TIME PURCHASED BY PHONE EXPIRES.

WHEN YOUR TIME IS UP … YOUR TIME IS UP !!

 

Grace period does not apply to illegal parking.

That is,  parking on double yellow lines or footpaths.

Or in a loading bay if not a commercial vehicle.

 

Illegal parking always warrants a fine, irrespective of whether or not you have a ticket !!

TAI CHI FOR ARTHRITIS AND FALLS PREVENTION

CLASSES START 5 SEPTEMBER

St. Patrick’s Parish Centre;  2.45 pm,  for six classes.

 

Programme is evidenced based to be effective at preventing falls.

Programme is easy,  enjoyable and safe for people with arthritis to learn.

 

Also good for everyone to improve health and wellness.

Improved balance significantly reduces rate of fall.

Also improves relaxation,  vitality,  posture and immunity.

Greystones Tidy Towns Family Day at St. Crispin’s Cell

2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

 

Family Day to celebrate Ancient Rathdown and St. Crispin’s.

All are welcome and families are most encouraged to come along and participate.

 

Lots of things to do:

          Music

          Children’s Art Competition

          Talks on the history and relevance of such a unique site near our town.

 

St. Crispin’s site,  overlooking the sea,  has been surveyed and well maintained this summer.

Work progresses on the clearing of Captain Tarrant’s House.

Site is now accessible and shows the many chapters in development of modern Greystones.

 

Come along for a wonderful afternoon on a beautiful site.

The place where people first lived in Greystones many many years ago !!

Emmet Family at Altidore Castle,  Kilpedder

Altidore is a rare Georgian castellated house.

The tour is conducted by one of the Emmet family,  who now live at Altidore.

The family is direct descendants of brothers Thomas Addis and Robert Emmet.

Not suitable for children under 12,  partial wheelchair access, car parking available.

Come see the dome shaped gravestones dating 1712-1800.

Including fine examples of Elizabethan lettering.

9th century shaft of early Christian Cross that can clearly be seen at 12:00 p.m.

Early dome shaped gravestones have been discovered since these old burial grounds.

Recently,  they have been restored,  2007.

Wicklow Bound:  Talk and Walk

Wordwell Books,  The Castle Inn,  Newcastle.

Talk by Seán Ó Súilleabháin,  local resident,  teacher and author of Wicklow Bound .

Lively and informative talk on local wildlife and nature upstairs in The Castle Inn.

 

Talk will include presentation of images from Seán’s book.

Images highlight the birds and wildlife that can be spotted during subsequent group walk.

Guided walk around Newcastle Fen Bird Sanctuary will follow the talk.

Meet at Lifeguard Hut,  South Beach,  Greystones

Geological guided walk along Greystones seafront.

Introduction to Geology,  marine mapping.

Engineering geology of Greystones Harbour and coastal erosion of North Beach.

 

Field trip will be led by local geologist,  Koen Verbruggen.

Michael has had a very distinguished career.
