Launch of a new Public Access Defibrillator in Wicklow Town

Wicklow-First-Responders

Wicklow Town Community First Responders are delighted to announce the installation of a third Public Access Defibrillator in Wicklow Town outside Ernie’s Bar in Market Square.

Thanks to the generosity of shoppers at our April Bag Pack in Gallagher’s Supervalu, a grant from Wicklow Municipal District and the support of Ernie’s Bar, this third Public Access Defibrillator is available for use by the general public 24/7.

This life saving device is also linked into the National Ambulance Control Centre who can direct a caller on how to retrieve and use it if needed.

The other two Defibrillators outside Delahunt’s Hardware & CarePlus Pharmacy have been accessed by the public several times.

The First Responders are a trained group of volunteers who assist the National Ambulance Service with certain types of emergency calls. The Wicklow Town First Responders group was formed 2 ½ years ago and the 11 on call volunteers are trained to respond to Cardiac, Stroke, Unconscious & Choking emergency calls.

If you would like to volunteer with the group or know more about what they do, log on to the website www.wicklowtowncfr.com
