National Heritage Weekend in Wicklow for Sunday

National Heritage ends on Sunday with a host of events around the county.

Wicklow Town

Wicklow Cliff Loop Walk-11:30am – 1:30pm, Glen Turn Beach Car Park – past Golf Club, south of Wicklow Town.

Wicklow lighthouse open day 10am-4pm,  An opportunity to see the conservation work of Irish Landmark Trust. Imagine life as a lighthouse keeper on your self-guided tour of this restored C18th lighthouse now run as holiday accommodation.

Please park in the car park on the left before the lighthouse when approaching from Wicklow Town. The private access road will be closed as it is not suitable for a high volume of traffic. Please also note that child supervision is required due to the coastal location.

Ballymurrin Quaker Farmstead, Nr Beehive, Wicklow Visit 3 phases of Quaker farm development from 1668 in a historic landscape setting. Learn about Wicklow Quaker settlement in 17th Century. Model conservation of buildings lived in for 350 years. 2-3pm and 4-5pm


Macreddin Village, Aughrim-A self-guided walk along The Macreddin Village Mile tells the historical story of landmarks, plants and wildlife.


Greystones 1-4pm, Vintage day by the Burnaby Residents Association, Burnaby Park, Greystones (opposite Dart station)


Knockanree Gardens , Avoca-The garden at Knockanree reflects its creator Harold Clarke’s idea that one should never know what to expect around the corner. Admission fee.


Walk the Glenmalure PURE miles, Self guided information leaflets available at Glenmalure Lodge. The leaflets will introduce you to the rich History, Culture & Nature of Glenmalure. Overall winner PURE Mile competition 2015 & 2016.


North Kildare Beekeepers demo 11am-5pm , Russborough House & Parklands, Hippodrome at Russborough House & Parklands, off the N 81


Meet the wildlife on the Derry 2-3.30pm with Sarah Rubalcava, Tomnafinnoge Woods Carpark


Book of Kells replica edition on display. Artist work on display from Kenneth and Susan Webb. J.M. Synge and the People of the Glens exhibition, admission fee. 10am-6pm

Nun’s Cross Church open day 2-6pm.


It’s in your nature 2-4pm, Season Park Farm Allotments


Laragh, Art and atmosphere at theBrockagh Resource Centre, Glendalough, Laragh 9.30am-5pm

Kilpedder, tour of Altidore Castle from 1-5pm, admission fee.
