Arklow has again been selected as one of the towns to take part in Bank of Ireland’s Enterprise Town initiative. The one-day revisit event, planned for Arklow during October, aims to build on the hugely successful two-day business and community showcase, which took place last autumn.
Businesses, community groups and sports clubs are encouraged to come along to the Registration & Launch night at 6.30pm on Thursday 7th September, upstairs in Arklow Library. Refreshments will be served and there will be an opportunity for those in attendance to network and find out more about participating. Everyone is welcome to register to exhibit for this free event, but due to the success of last years’ event, anyone interested is encouraged to register on the night in order to guarantee a place.
Last year, Arklow was selected as one of 100 towns across Ireland to host a Bank of Ireland Enterprise Town event. The event took place in St Mary’s College on 30th September and 1st October and was a phenomenal success. According to Derek Tobin, Branch Manager of Bank of Ireland, Arklow “The Enterprise Town event was extremely well supported and in the end, was completely oversubscribed. We welcomed over 85 exhibitors each day including local businesses, community organisations and sports groups. There were huge crowds in attendance each day who came out to enjoy the entertainment and support the town”.
The objective of Enterprise Town is to support local organisations and help generate business in the area. The initiative also aims to involve the wider community and the schools, to ensure everyone can get involved and be part of the positive experience in promoting all this is great in Arklow.
Mr Tobin says “The feedback after last year’s event was very positive – most of the businesses who participated said they generated sales, while others made connections with other businesses and customers in the locality. The community groups who participated got to showcase all their superb talents and raise their profiles. We were also delighted to be able to donate €1,000 to Arklow Cancer Support, who were the nominated charity”.
This year’s event is open to all organisations in the community who would like an opportunity to promote what they do. Although completely free for both exhibitors and attendees, businesses, sports and community organisations must book their exhibition stand in advance in order to participate.
Everyone is invited to come along to the registration evening on 7th September at 6pm in Arklow Library to hear more. Registrations will be taken on the night on a first come first served basis and the event is expected to be oversubscribed again this year, so early booking is advised.
