GAA

Congrats to our Intermediate footballers who had a well deserved win over Kilmacanogue last Friday night in the relegation play offs. Our next match in this play off competition is against Ballinacor next Sunday October 1st at 11.30 in Avondale.

We had great support for the match against Kilmacanogue and we will be hoping for a good turnout against Ballinacor next Sunday. This is a must win match for us so come along and give the lads the support that this young bunch of players deserve.

Race cards are out now for our annual Race Nite fundraiser which this year will be held in Joe O’Toole’s on Saturday October 21st. As well as being a fundraiser for the Club it will also be a social night out for all members of the club, players, mentors, coaches, supporters and all who help to promote our games in the community.  The club would like to thank all for their continued support.

Juvenile GAA

Congratulations to the Aughrim U11 hurlers who defeated Eire Og Greystones in the Mini Festival Final on Saturday last. Having been defeated by Eire Og earlier in the league, the team put in a huge effort to turn this game in their favour. Aughrim played in to a strong wind in the first half but managed to take a 2 goal lead early on.

They defended this lead, with hooks, blocks and great clearance for the most part of the half but did allow Eire Og back to level terms with 2 quick goals as the half concluded, Nevertheless it was a job well done.

With the wind at their backs for the second half, Aughrim opened up and tagged on score after score to eventually win out 5-03 to 3-00, Scorers: Lorcan Toomey 4-01, Rhyan Moules 1-00, Ciara Connolly 0-02.

The panel of players were; Conaill O’ Brien, Darragh Rice, Ciara Connolly, Corey O’ Toole, Dessie Fitzgerald, Charlie O’ Connor, Mark Tyrell, Lorcan Toomey, Jack Byrne, Cillian Duffy, Marc O’ Shea, Adam Lifely, Conor Wilson, Rhyan Moules, Liam Molloy, James Lambert. It was a great team effort, with allof the Aughrim players doing their bit to secure our first win in these finals in 7 years of trying.

The U13 Luke O Toole hurlers went down to a very good Glenealy team in the championship while a very spirited U15 team lost out to Avondale Parnells in the championship also. Both teams have still a lot to play for in the coming weeks, so best of luck to both as they search for silverware.
