The competition was established by the GAA in 1969 with the aim of promoting Ireland’s traditional pastimes and culture while offering club members the chance to meet up, have fun and represent their club during the winter months while Football and Hurling had ceased.

There are eight events/disciplines in Scór that cover all aspects of Irish culture:  Figure/Céilí Dancing, Solo Singing, Ballad Group, Recitation/Scéalaíocht, Léiriú Stáitse/Stage Presentation, Instrumental Music, Set Dancing and Table Quiz. The competition is divided into two age levels, Scór na nÓg, for young people under 17 and Scór Sinsir, for those over 17.

Match reports

U 15 Wicklow Hurling Championship Michael Dwyers 2-13 Bray Emmets 2-2

The U -15 hurlers were second best to an excellent Michael Dwyers side in this U-15 Championship match played in beautiful conditions on Wednesday evening. Dwyers were quick and lively from the start but a very solid Emmets defence denied them score after score, with superb effort in harrying and denying space. The midfielders were drawn back to repel the siege, so Emmets found it hard to deliver ball to the forwards and we were denied any score from play in the first half. Adam’s excellent free taking produced 2 points and the sides went to the break on a score of Michael Dwyers 1-07 Bray Emmets 0-2. Emmets grew in confidence and belief after the break and an enthralling second half saw standout performances all over the pitch. Cathal was superb in goal, excellent shot stopping and delivery, and calmness under pressure, and Sam’s ability and determination on a day when we had leaders all over the pitch, stood out as he produced 2 excellent goals from his midfield position. All over the pitch, one and all showed their character, determination and resilience in a fantastic performance that the scoreline doesn’t do justice to. Emmets were only outscored by 3 points in the second half but with the damage done in the first half Dwyers were worthy winners on a scoreline of Michael Dwyers 2-13 Bray Emmets 2-2.

Team: Cathal, Tadhg Mac, Luan, Jack, Dan F, Adam (0-2), Jamie, Sam (2-0), Peter, Rian, Rory, Andy, Dan M, Zack, Brian, Art, Conor G, Oscar.

U -15 Dublin Hurling League Div 4

Bray Emmets 6-09 Cuala B 0-5

The U -15 hurlers played their second match in 2 days when they welcomed Cuala B to Pitch 1 in Old Conna for their last match in the Dublin Hurling League on Thursday last. The game started at a lively pace and was end to end and while Emmets established dominance all over the pitch, a lively Cuala side denied them scores. Once again Sam, stepped up and with key plays singlehandedly converted Emmets advantage in play to a dominance on the scoreboard scoring an incredible 2-04 from his mid field berth in the first half. Oscar chipped in with a fine strike and the teams went to the break, Bray Emmets 2-5, Cuala B 0-1.

The scores dried up in the second half, and Cuala started to inch their way back into the game. The backs and forwards however played with a cohesiveness and linked well, and when Rory returned to play, his goal began a sequence of score taking by the Bray forwards. Brian on a sticky back did excellent work to take 2 goals, Jamie and Zack added points, and when Rory was taken down for a penalty, Sam’s excellent shot gave the keeper no chance. Special mention to Tadhg and Jack who are doing fantastic work in the corners; to Cathal again who has been a revelation over the last 2 games in goal and to Aaron O D R who has returned to play with the club. Special mention to 2003’s; Luan who has been outstanding as a stand in full back, and to Jamie who has been fantastic in the middle third. And finally very special mention to Sam who once again showed real class with his work and effort and an incredible personal tally of 3-05.

This was the final game in the Dublin league and the side went through the campaign with a 100% win record.

Team: Cathal, Tadhg Mac, Luan, Jack T, Dan F, Adam, Eoin, Sam (3-05) Peter Rian, Rory (0-1) Andy Aaron O D, Zack(0-1) Conor, Jamie(0-1) , Oscar(0-1) Brian(2-0) Art.
