Culture Bus

Over 40 people travelled to Dublin last Saturday to attend a reception in the Mansion House which was hosted by the Lord Mayor Micheal Mac Donncha and his good friend Councillor Lar O’ Toole. Prior to the reception the group attended a variety of events in Dublin with some visiting Trinity College, The National Gallery, the Science Gallery, the Viking Tour, The Chester Beatty Library and even fitted in a bit of retail therapy. All of this was followed by a very interesting tour and talk in the Mansion House and a cuppa . A great day was had by all.


The death took place of Kathleen Byrne, Kilcullen Street, Dunlavin, Co Wicklow on  August 22nd in her 94th year. Suddenly and peacefully in her own home. Beloved wife of the late Joseph and mother of the late Colm. Deeply regretted by her loving daughters Rosemarie, Marion, Kathrine, and sons Seamus, Nicholas, Gerard, and Dominic, granchildren, great-grandchildren, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, nieces, nephews relatives and friends. Kathleen’s funeral took place in Dunlavin on Friday August 25th 2017. May she rest in peace.

West Wicklow Cancer Support

Group – will meet on Thur 31st August at 7.30pm in the Coimin Centre, Blessington. A safe place to meet, to talk and be supported during a cancer journey. All are welcome and feel free to bring a friend. 

St. Padre Pio’s Glove – will be at Betty Malones home Shindella, Rathangan, Co. Kildare on Sunday 3rd September from 11:30am – 5:50pm. Items of St. Pio available on the day. For information call Betty on 045-525094. All Welcome!


Ballynure Garden Open Day

Sunday September 3rd 2017. 12.00pm to 4.30pm

Admission €5 per person               Children under 12: Free

Garden tours, bouncy castle/kids fun, music, plant sale

BBQ, tea/coffee, refreshments and ice creams will also be available for purchase.

Please use Grangecon gate and follow signs to parking. Last entry 4pm.

Heritage Walk to Blessed Well

Dunlavin & District Forum

Come join us for the first ever event as part of National Heritage Week. A heritage walk will take place on August 27th at 6.30pm along the newly refurbished route to the ancient Blessed Well.

The Blessed Well refurbishment project is managed by a dedicated sub-committee supported by Dunlavin & District Forum. With minimal funding, the works began two years ago to improve the access to the ancient Blessed Well. A peaceful pathway will allow you to wander through nature and to appreciate the biodiversity along the way. The destination is one of the hidden gems Dunlavin has to offer and well worth a visit.



Sympathy is extended to the O’ Gorman family, Usk on the death of Maureen. Maureen who passed away following a long illness is mourned by her husband Tom, sons Andrew, Tommy and Michael, daughters Caroline, Fiona and Muriel, sisters Bernie and Angela, brother Pat and large circle of relatives and friends. Maureen’s funeral took place in Crookstown on August 17th 2017. May Maureen rest in peace.


Flower and Garden Club

The autumn demonstration takes place on Wednesday September 13th in the Jonathan Swift Hall at 8pm. The demonstrator is Bernadette Paliminteri. Supper served. All welcome.


Music Under The Mountains

The Voice Squad return to Hollywood to close Music Under The Mountains 2017. Phil, Fran and Gerry are no strangers to Music Under The Mountains, having performed at the first festival in 1991, and others since, aswell as recording part of their album Hollywood in this very church! We hope you will join us for what is always a very special performance in a wonderful setting of St. Kevins Church of Ireland is located in the small picturesque village of Hollywood in County Wicklow and has been the main venue for the festival since its inception in 1991. It is the oldest church in Leinster still in active use and dates back to the 12th century!

Sympathy is extended to Johnny Kelly (formerly Church Road, Dunlavin) on the recent death of his wife Sylvia. Sylvia is mourned by her husband Johnny, daughters Jennifer and Susan and son Jonathan and many relatives and friends. Sylvia’s funeral took place in Dublin. May she rest in peace.

Culture Bus

The annual West Wicklow Daycare sponsored walk will take place in Baltinglass on September 3rd at 2.30. Assembly point is Fishers Car Park. All welcome to participate.


Line Dancing

Line Dancing – continues in the Imaal Hal on Wednesdays from 8pm-10pm at a cost of only €6. New beginners are welcome, so come along learn a new skill and join the craic!

Join your local library and avail of the many free services there. E-Books and E Audio books are available, you can read Digital Magazines and the newspapers for free. Great selection of children’s books. Opening times in Dunlavin Tuesday 6.30-8.30pm., Wednesday 3-5pm and 6.30-8.30pm, Friday 10.30-1pm and 3pm-5pm, and Saturday 11am-1pm. Closed on Saturdays of Bank Holiday weekends.



John Brady TD will hold a clinic in Dunlavin parish centre on the 2nd Monday of each month from 11.30am to 12.30pm. All welcome to drop in.


Church Shop – We now have a lovely selection of items in stock including Confirmation and Communion cards, rosettes, rosary beads, necklaces and pins. All items are available from the Church and the parish office at very competitive prices..


Used Postage Stamps
