Large turnout for “Arklow Enterprise Town Revisit” Launch

Derek Tobin BOI branch manager arklow at launch

On Thursday last, Arklow Library hosted the launch of Arklow Enterprise Town 2017, which saw a great turnout from the local community.  Derek Tobin, Bank of Ireland Arklow branch manager, announced that this year’s event will have a change of venue, moving to Glenart Collage.  The revisit event will take place for one day only, on Saturday 7th October, from 11am to 3pm.

Those attending the launch also heard about the new supports being extended to all registered exhibitors this year, including a pre-event Business Networking session.  Mr. Tobin explains; “Last year we found that Enterprise Town exhibitors made lots of local connections with other complimentary organisations and many gained significant business, as a result.  This year, we want to help foster the networking aspect by bringing exhibitors together in advance of the event to facilitate and maximise the potential for cooperation amongst local businesses”.

Demand to participate in Arklow Enterprise Town is high and, since the launch on Thursday, over 60 local organisations have registered to take part.  The Enterprise Town committee are now urging businesses and community organisation to sign up as soon as possible, as capacity is limited.   The event is completely FREE for both exhibitors and attendees.  For attendees, there will be lots of entertainment for all ages, kid’s activities, spot prizes and special guests.  GAA legend Micky Harte, launched last year’s event, which saw 85 organisations exhibit on each of the two days.  Details of the year’s guest of honour are being finalised and will be announced soon!

Commenting on the return of the event to Arklow Mr. Tobin said: “We are very excited to be hosting the ‘Enterprise Town’ initiative again in Arklow. I am delighted to see the great level of support from the local community for the initiative and we are calling on businesses to get involved.

“The Enterprise Town initiative gives businesses the opportunity to promote what they have to offer. It takes a community to build a community and with the platform Enterprise Town provides, matched with the commitment shown from the people of the town, the Arklow Enterprise Town initiative promises to build on the success of last year and continue to have a positive impact on the local economy and community life. The event is a fantastic opportunity for Arklow and the surrounding areas”.

Businesses, schools, clubs and societies interested in taking part in the events can register by emailing derek.tobin@boi.com or by calling into the Bank of Ireland Arklow to speak to any member of staff.
