Brilliant News for Rathdrum – Minister Simon Harris Welcomes New Owners of former MSD Plant
Wicklow TD Minister Simon Harris said:
“I am really pleased to confirm that the old Schering Plough/MSD plant in Rathdrum has been purchased. This is fantastic news for Rathdrum and Wicklow.”
“It was a terrible blow for the area when MSD closed it’s doors in 2013. The community has rallied however it was clear that a replacement employer in the site would be vital. This sale. which was confirmed yesterday, will open up new opportunities for Rathdrum and Wicklow.”
“Just last week, we turned the sod on a new housing development in Rathdrum, it is vital that we continue to develop the infrastructure around Wicklow in order to attract investment like this one. I look forward to providing further news on this in the near future.”
Former local Councillor Jimmy O’Shaughnessy also welcomed the news saying ” There have been a few dark days for Rathdrum over recent times, I hope now we will kick on there are a lot of projects in the pipeline which can only be good for the area.”
Councillor Pat Kennedy said ” This is welcome news and I had the pleasure of working with the former owners, I look forward now to working with the new owners and assisting them in every possible way”
