Homeowners in the county will not face an increase in Local Property Tax (LPT) for 2018 following a decision taken by the Members of Wicklow County Council.
Councillors voted at a special meeting on Monday (Sept 25th) to retain the Local Property Tax rate at the 2017 level.
The decision taken by the Members to retain the LPT basic rate for 2018 at the existing level will allow for the continuation of funding for a number of different projects, including:
- Disabled Persons Grants
- Community Grants
- Economic Development and
- Discretionary funding for the five Municipal Districts.
The decision also provides assurances to Wicklow homeowners that there will be no increase in their Local Property Tax next year and will allow the Council greater flexibility in the allocation of resources in Budget 2018 towards the cost of providing much-needed essential services.
