Carnew notes week October 23rd

SYMPATHY

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Billy Osborne, Kilcavan who died during the week, his remains were removed to Carnew on Thursday for 2pm mass, followed by burial in Tomacork cemetery.

To the family and relatives of Jim Barnes, England and formely of Hillbrook who died recently, his remains were removed to Carnew on Friday for 2pm mass, followed by burial in Coolfancy cemetery.

To Vaughan Quaid, Park Bridge his family and relatives on the death of his mother Isabel Quaid, New Zealand who died recently.

ENGAGEMENT

Congratulations to Linda Massey, Croneyhorn and Andrew Redmond, Bunclody on their engagement.

The next bingo is on Sunday 5th November at 2.30pm in St Bridget’s Hall, Carnew, all welcome.

Catherine Fulvio Cookery Demonstration

Catherine Fulvio will host a cookery demonstration on Thursday 9th November in Seafield Hotel. Artisan food and craft fair from 6:45pm. Cookery demonstration @ 7:45pm. All proceeds in aid of Gorey Hockey Club Pitch Fund. Tickets €20 and are available from Alan Redmond Butchers, John Street, Gorey, any club member or phone 087 2733709 / 087 2628048.

BAZAAR

The annual Tinahely/Carnew Union of parishes Bazaar will take place in Colaiste bhride Carnew on Friday 27th October at 7pm, with all the usual stalls, raffles, teas, cakes, vegetables, bottle stall and more, all welcome.

SPLIT THE POT

The winner of Scoil Aodan Nofa Carnew Split the Pot of 13th October was Sandra Peavoy winning  €278, tickets on sale from the school and local business.

CARNEW COMMUNITY CARE

Swimming is starting back on Monday’s, leaving Community Care at 12 noon and back at 2.20pm, anyone interested please contact Mary on 0877950903 or office on 0539426510 for more details.

KNITTING/CROCHET PROJECT

Our next knitting/crochet project will be fro Crumlin Hospital Intensive Care unit, booties, hats, mitts and blankets 24″ X 34″. A big thank you to all the people who have been contributing to our knitting projects.

COOLBOY GAA
Coolboy Gaa Juveniles are holding their annual presentation evening on Friday 27th October from 6 – 6.30 in the Little Moon Coolboy, followed at 7pm by a Family Table Quiz which is open to all in the locality !Your support as always is gratefully appreciated and ensures the future success of our juvenile club. We look forward to seeing you on the 27th.

RACE NIGHT

There is a race night on 11th November in McCrea’s Carnew at 9pm, horses €10 available from any of the committee or local shops, all proceeds towards the Back Alley Community Project. All welcome.

CABARET

The annual cabaret for Tomacork church will be held on Friday 3rd November in the usual venue, all welcome.

Halloween 2017 at Coolattin House

In an exciting joint venture between the Coolattin House Committee and the South Wicklow Drama Festival Committee Coolattin House will be open on Saturday and Sunday

28th & 29th October, 2017 for halloween tours for both adults and children. Tours will take place for Children Age 6 years and upwards from 3 – 7 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The children’s guided tour of the house and grounds will include Story Telling, a Puppet Show and fun crafts will cost just €10.00 per person with

All Children must be accompanied by an Adult.

Adult Guided Tours will take place from 8.30 – 10.30 pm on Saturday and Sunday

All visitors will have an opportunity to check out the nooks and crannies and experience the hidden secrets of the house and to meet some of the fascinating characters who are coming along to bring the house to life for this one spooktacular weekend.

Adults will have an added extra on the Sunday night with Dracula’s Ball taking place from 10 till late on the Sunday night. We would encourage people to get into the spirit of the occasion and come to Dracula’s Ball in Fancy Dress, but of course this is purely optional. There will be a prize for the best dressed.

Adult Tour: €10.00 – Dracula’s Ball: €10.00 and adults can go on tour and attend the ball for just €15.00. Booking (Essential) Open 1st of October (Watch this space for booking details)

Tinahely Walks

On Sunday October 29, the walk will be at Mount Leinster (Grade B, 10km, 4 hours) meeting in Bunclody at 10.00. On Sunday November 5, the walk will be at Crossbridge & Ballycumber (Grade B, 12km, 3.5 hours) meeting in Tinahely at 10.00. Please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food & drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear.

 

South Wicklow Drama Festival   – Halloween at Coolattin

Don’t miss this unique and exciting community event taking place in Coolattin House on this weekend…the 28th and 29th of October.

Children’s Tours – will take place from 3 – 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday 28th & 29th.

Dorothy has once again been swooped up by a Tornado (Ophelia) and has been transported to Coolattin House.  Come along and help Dorothy find her way back to Kansas! Tour will include crafts, face painting and Punch and Judy show.  Only €10.00 per person.
