Arklow Town Team is to make an application to the Department of Justice and Equality for funding towards the installation of a community-based CCTV system for the town.
The CCTV scheme is intended to support local communities who wish to install and maintain CCTV security systems in their area with the aim of increasing public safety and to deter illegal or anti-social behaviour.
A survey of the town has been carried out and, subject to funding, it is proposed to install 11 cameras on new poles at locations between Upper Main Street to Lower Main Street, River Walk and the North Quay.
A map showing the exact locations will be on display and available to view in the offices of Arklow Municipal District and Arklow Garda Station from Wednesday, 8th November, up to the 30th November ,2017. The information will also be distributed to businesses and residents in the area.
Alternatively, people may contact Arklow Municipal District on 0402 42700 and request information to be sent out to them.
