Juvenile GAA
After a very good win v Annacurra last week, the U11 football team lost out to a very strong Dunlavin team in the Allen cup semi-final on Sunday morning last. The final score was 4-08 to 2-02, but it wasn’t really a true reflection of proceedings, granted Dunlavin were the better team on the day, but a miss-firing Aughrim side should have been a lot closer on the scoreboard.  Conaill O’ Brien & Lorcan Toomey were as usual magnificent and gave 100% and they were ably assisted by Alex Evans in goals and Charlie O’ Connor and Ciara Connolly in the backs. Scorers: Lorcan Toomey 1-02, Colm McGuckian 1-00. This game brings an end to a very successful year for the U11’s where they won the Group 4 League and the Mini Festival final, their only 2 defeats of the year were to a well drilled Dunlavin team.

The eagerly awaited U13  B Championship Final takes place this Saturday  November 11 at 2.30pm in Ballinakill. Aughrim take on St Kevin’s in what should prove to be a ding dong battle. The Aughrim team have prepared well and are now ready for the battle. The team would like the Aughrim club, young and old, to get behind them for this final and are looking for all the support they can get to help them over the finish line, please make the effort and get to Ballinakill. The team have received some new kit and gear bags for the final and would like to acknowledge the very kind sponsorship from Eugene O’ Brien, John Gunning, Derek Kavanagh, Patrick Kavanagh, Declan O’ Brien, Alan Dillon and Gerry Phelan. Hopefully the great community spirit shown by these sponsors will help in some small way to an Aughrim victory on Saturday. Best of luck to the coaches and players.  The Juvenile club are preparing for their annual Christmas raffle, tickets will be on sale shortly. Please keep any eye out for the tickets and support the juveniles. There is a lot of great work being put in to juveniles in Aughrim and all funds raised go directly in to keeping these players moving forward. The club would like to thank you in advance for your support.
