Convicted killer aiming to use artwork to fund appeal

A Wicklow convicted killer is planning to sell artwork to help finance an appeal against her conviction, according to the Star newspaper.

Polish woman Marta Herda is serving a life sentence for the murder of her work colleague Csaba Orsas, after she deliberately drove her car into the sea at the pier in Arklow, in March 2013, knowing he couldn’t swim.

Last month the Court of Appeal rejected her claim that her conviction should be quashed. However, according to the Star, Marta is hoping to sell artwork she is producing in prison at auctions to raise money to fund an appeal to the Supreme Court, and possibly courts in Europe.
