Donnelly welcomes positive response to sports campus proposals

Fianna Fáil TD for Wicklow Stephen Donnelly has today welcomed a positive response made by Wicklow County Council to Fianna Fáil’s proposals for a sports campus for north Wicklow.

Responding to Deputy Donnelly’s proposals submitted to the Bray Municipal Area Local Area Plan, the chief executive commented that “the Council will indeed endeavour to secure the delivery of such a facility.”

Deputy Donnelly commented, “I am delighted to see that Wicklow County Council have greeted this proposal with such a positive response. A community sports campus which would serve the entirety of north Wicklow is a once in a lifetime opportunity which we cannot afford to miss. I hope that all representatives will be willing to work with Fianna Fáil to make this proposal a reality.

“Sports clubs in the north of the county have been crying out for this sort of facility for years. For example, Ardmore Rovers, which will soon have 800 members, is without a home facility. Considering the amazing contribution that these sports clubs make to the local community, I think the time has come for the community to give back, and to give these clubs a home.

“Cllr. Pat Vance and I will be hosting a public meeting on our proposals on Monday 13th of November at 7:30PM in the Esplanade Hotel in Bray. All are welcome to attend to learn about what we have proposed. We have already received support from many of the clubs who would benefit from these proposals, and hope that this is matched by residents.”
