Flower Power of Wicklow Town hid ten bouquets of flowers around the town for people to find and bring home for free.
Cate, who works with Flower Power, said it was a complete success. People took to Facebook to express their gratitude and thanks, and all ten bouquets have since been found.
The event celebrated the international Lonely Bouquet Day, and though it was the first time Ireland has participated, many florists around the country took part.
“We put up on Facebook that there were ten bouquets up for grabs for free scattered around the town. All you had to do was find them,” Cate said.
She added that she attached a note to each bouquet with a message something like this: “I’m a lonely bouquet, take me home and enjoy me. I’m free, no strings attached, to brighten your day.”
Cate said she thought it was a success, as events like these put a smile on peoples’ faces. Even aside from the outpouring on Facebook, “people came in to say thanks in person.”
“The positive feedback was really good. We might do it again, like a Christmas hunt, and not give a particular date. We’ll just spring it on people and they can go searching around the town for more.”
