Free Christmas parking for Wicklow town

Motorists will enjoy three hours free Christmas parking in all Pay and Display Parking areas in Wicklow town from Friday, 1st December 2017, to Monday, 1st January 2018, inclusive.

The decision was agreed by the Cathaoirleach and Members of Wicklow Municipal District.

The Cathaoirleach of Wicklow Municipal District, Cllr Shay Cullen, invited people to avail of the free parking over the Christmas period saying: “This is a great boost for motorists coming into the town and I would encourage people to do their shopping in Wicklow this Christmas.”

Please note that the Traffic Wardens will continue to monitor and enforce illegal parking during this time.

The new Parking Byelaws came into force from 28th August 2017 and they allow for the following:


  • Free parking between 9.00 am and 10 am
  • 15 minutes official grace period allowed
  • Free parking throughout the town on Sundays

Cashless parking is available in Wicklow Town by using Parking Tag.  This service allows motorists to park by phone and extend their parking without returning to the vehicle.
