Wicklow Town Hall reopening is a welcome development

Fianna Fáil TD for Wicklow Pat Casey and local Cllr Gail Dunne have both welcomed Wicklow County Councils decision to re-open the Town Hall for the public to access Municipal District services.

The Wicklow TD remarked “Both Gail and I have been working to ensure that the Town Hall can be re-opened as a public building where the people of our County Town can access services. Since the Town Hall was closed in 2014 when the Fine Gael/Labour Government abolished Town Councils, the main street building has been left empty and unused. I want to thank all the officials in Wicklow County Council for their commitment to this task.”

Cllr Dunne remarked that “I would like to thank the senior officials in Wicklow County Council for remaining committed to the re-opening of our Town Hall. As a Wicklow Town man born and bred, I was gutted to see our Town Hall Building closed and I have been determined to see it re-open to provide services that the people of the Town need”

“We have a fantastic County Town and I am deeply committed to seeing its development and regeneration. I am working closely with Deputy Casey to ensuring the reopening of our Courthouse and to additional urban renewal measures that can contribute to the development of Wicklow Town Centre. We have already seen progress with the new proposed Town Library so this addition is great news for the Market Square end of the Main St.”
