The Government has sanctioned additional temporary accommodation for Greystones Community National School.
Wicklow TD Minister Simon Harris can now inform parents in Greystones that the Government has approved the additional accommodation to help ensure it can provide a second Junior Infants class from September.
Mr Harris met with representatives of the board of management and parents this week to discuss the matter. There was concern among parents that many children who would need a Junior Infants place in September would not be able to obtain one unless additional accommodation was provided.
Speaking today, Mr Harris welcomed the development, and said he worked “very hard with the school community and with the Dept. of Education and Skills to ensure this additional accommodation is developed.
“I will continue to work very closely with parents and with the school board to help advance this project, but I think the development this week is a very significant one because parents can now be assured that the additional accommodation will be provided by the Dept. of Education and Skills. I am delighted to have been able to assist in my role as a minister and TD.”
