GAA Note

Congratulations to club member Des Burton following the announcement at County Convention that he has been awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award.  Des has not only put in tremendous work at County Board level, he has done great work at club level too, none more so than in the school, where he was the school coach for over 20 years, well done Des.   We look forward to the Awards Presentation night early in the New Year.     Our Juvenile Draw will take place next Saturday night  December 23rd in Joe O’ Toole’s at 9pm.Tickets are still available from all the usual outlets and from all committee members. This is also our final social get together for all club members for this year. Please come along and support this event.

Book Launch

Aughrim sheep show is 50 years in existence this year. To mark this historic achievement Aughrim Sheep Breeders have collected a history of the show from photos, articles and press cuttings and compiled it into a book called simply The Show, a celebration of 50 years of Aughrim Sheep Show. The book will be launched in Joe O’Toole’s on Thursday December 21st at 8 pm. All interested in this unique book are welcome to attend.

Christmas Fishing Competition
On Wednesday December 27th.  at the NDAF “Fishing for All” Angling Facility, Rednagh Road, Aughrim there will be a fishing competition from 12 noon -3.  Prizes – Plaques and Fishing Vouchers for heaviest senior catch of the day and Junior catch of the day.  Entry fee is included in admission ticket. “Like” the National Disabled Angling Facility on Facebook for further details on events and promotions or for further information phone 0402 36552.

There is no athletics training till January. We wish all our coaches’ volunteers and especially our children a very Happy Christmas and a great New Year 2018. Be safe and look after each other. Hope Santa is good to you all

Church of the Sacred Heart, Christmas Timetable

Saturday: December 23rd. Confessions 7.00.p.m to 8.00pm.
Vigil Mass  Sunday December 24th (Christmas Eve)
Mass at Vigil Mass at  Monday December 25th. (Christmas Day)


The numbers: 8, 9, 20 and 25 were drawn in the sports club lotto on Monday last December 11th. There were no match three or jackpot winner.   The jackpot is €3900.


Aughrim Town & Country Market takes place every Saturday from 10a.m. to 2p.m. in the Pavilion, Rednagh Road.  Preparations are well underway for Christmas now and orders are being taken for traditional homemade Christmas cakes and puddings, as well as free range turkeys and hams.  Come along and join us at the market cafe by the fire, enjoy a cuppa and chat with friends, and pick up a unique handcrafted Christmas gift. We have a variety of stalls to choose from and of course our usual offering of organic fruit & vegetables, farm fresh free range eggs, preserves and much more.  Also, our special Christmas Market takes place on Saturday 23rd December when you can pick up your special orders for the big day.
