Car drove with man on bonnet for 2 miles

Gardai in Arklow are investigating an incident which took place on the Arklow to Gorey road at Knockmore roundabout on Saturday morning.

Two men who appeared to be hitchhiking stepped out on to the road and stopped a car at the bus stop.

One man tried to get into the car while the other stood in front of it and started thumping on the bonnet.

A relation of the driver said on social media “The second man then jumped on the bonnet, the driver left the scene with the man clinging on by the windscreen wipers and drove in the direction of Gorey.

The man was screaming and shouting at the driver to stop and let him off, the driver stopped on the M11 south of Arklow where the man jumped off and smashed a window of the car.”

The driver went to Gorey garda station and reported the incident.

Gardai in Arklow arrested one of the men at the Kish roundabout at around 7.30am.

Gardai are appeling to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or noticed the two men at Knockmore roundabout to call Arklow garda station at 0402-32304.
