Caution advised as temperatures drop

Motorists are being advised to drive with caution as temperatures drop tonight.

Road conditions in the Wicklow uplands and West Wicklow are being described as dangerous.

The AA report this evening that gardaí are reporting treacherous conditions on the Roundwood between and Kilmacanogue  (R755).

The Sally Gap (R759) and approach roads in the area are impassable due to snow and ice. Gardaí are advising motorists to avoid the area.

An Orange Low Temperature Warning remains in place until 10am tomorrow morning.

Forecast for tonight and tomorrow morning.

Outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow in the south of the province for a time this evening. These will clear early tonight and it will be a very cold and clear night lows of between -2 and -7 degrees with severe frost and ice developing. Hazardous conditions on untreated surfaces. Mist and fog forming in places too.


Frost and ice will be slow to clear and will linger in places for the day tomorrow. A cold and dry day with sunny spells and highs of 3 or 4 degrees in light to moderate northwesterly winds.
