Donard garda station to re-open

Donard garda station is one of six stations around the country due to re-open.

The Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan announced the desision this morning.

Donard along with Rush, Stepaside (Dublin),  Leighlinbridge (Carlow), Ballinspittle (Cork) and Bawnboy  (Cavan) are listed as the stations which will be brought back into use.

Councillor Gerry O’Neill welcomed the news “This is great news for the area, it was a shock when it closed along with the station in Hollywood, hopefully in the future the Minister will see fit for it to re-open too as it is strategically located on the N81.”
