Emergency services attend accident at Sally Gap

Emergency services including the Fire Service, Gardai and Ambulance attended an accident at the Sally Gap on Tuesday afternoon.

The driver of a Toyota Yaris skidded on black ice and ended up in a drain but received no injuries.

A garda spokesperson told Wicklownews “People think that when the snow is gone it is safe to travel up to the Sally Gap, but fail to remember that the roads are covered with ice. Temperatures will be a lot lower up here than they would be in Laragh or Roundwood.”

For the last number of days Gardai and the Wicklow Mountain have appealed to the public to keep away from the area due to the roads being impassible.

Road conditions around the county are being described as dangerous following heavy snow this afternoon.
