It’s the sort of occasion that Brendan Behan would have loved to indulge in during one of his rather memorable holiday visits to Greystones…
Launching The Whale’s new dinner theatre nights, noted playwright, author and director Peter Sheridan’s take on Behan’s autobiographical The Confirmation Suit.
Written in 1962, it charts the 12-year-old Brendan’s coming-of-age moment, as this good Catholic boy gets ready to make his confirmation. The excitement of the big day, and all the prestige and goodies that come with it, gets a knockback though when the lad discovers that his suit for the big day is going to be stitched together by the eldery seamstress, Miss McCann, who lives upstairs in their Dublin tenement house.
The noted comic and actor Gary Cooke – currently on our screens in the long-running football satire Aprés Match – will be front and centre for this critically-lauded one-man show.
And you can take your enjoyment of The Confirmation Suit to a whole new level with a special Whale Theatre two-course meal created especially for the night by Claire O’Brien and the Bear Paw gang.
The main course is Irish Whiskey-glazed Bacon with Colcannon, Glazed Carrotes & Creamy Parsley Sauce, whilst dessert will be Mrs Sheridan’s Open Apple Tart with Vanilla Cream.
An acclaimed play, a delicious main course and a yummy dessert – now, there’s an oul’ triangle that will have you chiming.
So, sit back and soak up the culture, and the whiskey glaze, for a night out like no other in Greystones…
