Cathaoirleach of Arklow Municipal District Tommy Annesley is warning motorists to observant when parking in Arklow this Christmas, as not all car-parks are within the Municipal District.
Councillor Annesley said he had received a large number of complaints after cars were clamped in private car parks, as many as 13 cars were clamped in the Train station car-park on St.Marys road during a Christmas concert last Sunday.
Motorists parking in the Aldi car-park at the Bridgewater Centre have also been clamped.
Speaking to Wicklownews he said “Arklow was the only town in the county to provide free parking for Christmas period but unfortunately the private car parks are not included in this, the clamping in these areas is out of our hands.
Free parking applies to all areas with the exception of Main Street, Lower Main Street, Upper Main Street and the Wexford Road. Pay and display remains as normal in these areas.
The traffic wardens will be monitoring the traffic as normal and enforcing all other aspects of the parking bye laws in relation to illegal parking.”
