Christmas Stables at Powerscourt

Where?: Powerscourt Estate, Enniskerry.

Experience festive animal magic and meet unbelievably cute creatures at Powerscourt Estate with the arrival of the Christmas Stables.

Children and adults will adore a trip to the Christmas Stables where they’ll meet an array of furry friends. After arriving at Powerscourt Estate, visit Santa’s reindeer, meet some miniature donkeys, pygmy goats, rabbits and guinea pigs.

Admission is free.


Christmas Island at Hidden Valley Holiday Park

Runs until December 23rd.

Where?: Hidden Valley Holiday Park, Rathdrum.

At Christmas Island, children will have a chance to go on enchanted train and boat journeys, meet the elves and have a sing and dance with them, visit Santa (all children receive a present and sweet treat), and there will be a playground and mini golf.

Santa at Avoca Powerscourt

Runs until 23rd December

Where?: Powerscourt House and Gardens.

Mr Claus and his elves will be at Avoca Powerscourt awaiting your visit, so we hope you’ve been good this year. While adults relax with a coffee or snack in the Terrace Café, children will be enchanted to meet Santa and his elves. Even Santa’s animals will be there at the Powerscourt Garden Pavilion. Deer, miniature donkeys, pygmy goats, rabbits, and guinea pigs will all be there, and are free to visit.

Price: €10 (Non-refundable. Booking opened 9th October.)

Christmas Lights at Avoca Village

Avoca will be turning on its Christmas lights at 6pm. Families and residents, young and old, are urged to wear their most festive jumpers and don their Santa hats for the event.


Christmas Parties at the Glen

The Glenview Hotel will be hosting a variety of Christmas parties on the 8th, 9th, and 15th of December. Each night a different band will be playing:

  • 8th December: Freeway
  • 9th December: Suzie Q
  • 15th December: Wicker House

Prices: €59 per person. Includes welcome drinks, a five-course meal and music.

Saturday 9th December

Aughrim Town and Country Market

Where?: Aughrim.

This weekly event runs from 10am to 2pm and features a wide range of stalls. Produce includes meat, vegetables, cakes, eggs, plants, pottery, knitwear, jam and even tea or coffee. Craftspeople and local growers welcome.

Farm Market at Killruddery

Where?: Killruddery House and Gardens, Bray.

This weekly event runs from 10am to 4pm, featuring locally sourced produce, crafts and fine foods. Running all year round, this family-friendly event has a variety of hot foods, and seasonal themes promise a lovely atmosphere. Free parking is available.

Wreath-making and winter walk

Where?: East Coast Nature Reserve, Newcastle.

East Coast Nature Reserve are holding a seasonal event not to be missed. Join Birdwatch Ireland for a festive walk around the reserve and celebrate the return of winter migrants. After a short journey, participants will have a chance to make a winter wreath and a bird feeder. All materials are sustainably sourced from the site and wreaths will be ready for the compost heap in the new year.

Where?: Delgany Golf Club, Delgany.

Delgany Choir will be performing much loved carols and will entertain all attending this meal.

Sunday 10th December

Christmas Fair at Lawless’ Hotel

Where?: Lawless’ Hotel, Aughrim.

This annual Christmas fair, organised by the Aughrim Business Association, will feature local businesses presenting their crafts and services.

The fair runs from 11am to 5pm.


Christmas Tree Lights at Grangecon Village

Where?: Grangecon, County Wicklow.

The village of Grangecon will be out in force for the annual festive fun and lighting up of the Christmas tree. Dig out the Christmas jumpers and wrap up for the big switch-on at 5pm.
