Wicklow County Council advise of a Code Level Orange Weather Warning.

Significant falls of snow are expected on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

Accumulations of between 4-8cm expected widely, greater totals possible.

Drifting snow locally at times with brisk winds.

Slippery paths/treacherous roads due to snow accumulation and ice.

Valid 23.00 the 9th of December to 23.00 the 10th of December.

Don’t forget to keep pets indoors feed the birds and check on the elderly.

Motorists are advised to avoid the Sally gap and take alternative routes.

Forecast for tonight

Very cold tonight but it will be dry to start, with some clear spells and a widespread frost developing. Heavy and persistent rain will spread from the southwest overnight and will quickly turn wintry with some large accumulations of snow across much of the province. Lowest temperatures of between -1 and -5 degrees in moderate or fresh east to southeast winds.
