Gardai in Arklow are investigating an attempted robbery at a newsagents on the Wexford road.
A man entered Kavanagh’s newsagents just after 7am, on Saturday morning.
The man told the assistant that he was armed, and demanded the contents of the till.
The shop assistant was able to detain the man momentarily, but the intruder managed to escape and quickly fled the shop.
The man appears to be wearing a balaclava, black jacket , green and black Nike tracksuit bottoms with Nike trainers.
This is the third incident to have occurred in the area over the last ten days, after another family-run business close by was robbed twice.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything in the area on Saturday morning to contact Arklow garda station at 0402-32304.
